What a weekend

Wow, we had such a great weekend. This might turn into a rather long post so i think i will cut this into two. Today i will share with you about the show and what i bought and then tomorrow or Wednesday i will share with you the projects that i have been working on and some other very exciting things.

We arrived at the show at around 9:30am Saturday morning and decided to go into the sewing section first. This was amazing. They had sewing, embroidery, quilting, cross stitch, knitting - the lot. There are such talented people out there! I should have really taken more photos but here is what i did manage to take.

This quilt is just stunning in real life. I love the mixture of the circles and the angles.

This was just amazing. Would you be live that the quilt in the back of this photo is actually made of carrier bags? Yup, carrier bags!
This is myself and my mom half way through. Not the best of photos and not the best of lighting but that's OK.
Now this was in a huge display at the back of the hall. I think that each school had made a project like the one above and then entered into this show. They were all so amazing and so different but i especially loved this one for the obvious reasons......(Proud to be South African!)

Now this area was just fantastic. So much to look at and so much to take in. This entire scene was knitted. Every little detail of it was knitted. This was done for a charity but i cant remember which one at the moment - totally awesome ladies!I also managed to pick up a few much needed accessories while we were walking around. Some more bobbins, a bobbin case and a fabric marker.I bought this fabric to make Simplicity 4164 (pattern is in the post so will show you a picture when it arrives). The lovely blue fabric I am going to be using to make Simplicity 4197 (again when that arrives) and the other fabric showing I am going to be using that to make some trousers.I also found this wonderful wool while we were out and about and i am going to be using this to make this. I have started this pattern and am so pleased with myself for what i have done so far but that will wait for another post.

After we had lunch we then moved across to the paper crafts side of things and here is what follows... This beautiful art work is some of what we saw while walking around.

Ohhhh, a doodle genie. I have heard so much about these things but until Saturday i hadn't seen any. So when i came across this on one of the stands i just had to buy it! I will let you know how it turns out.
This is another thing that we found while working by. It is the most amazing thing. If i am not mistaken, this is done with little pieces of fabric and pins that are stuck into Styrofoam objects. Fantastic!I also came home with this, this, this, this,

and finally this.

We had such a great day! If you made it this far then thank you for sticking around-i promise that tomorrows post will so much shorter!
